Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design systems meeting engineering standards, applicable codes, customer specifications, and within cost constraints.
  • Ability to work proficiently with design programs mainly Inventor
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements.
  • Redesign standard systems, improving quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
  • Evaluate and select components.
  • Work with purchaser to initiate purchase orders.
  • Act as technical resource for product field support of customers, service personnel and field sales force, assisting in addressing and resolving problems.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
  • Suggest ideas for new products.
  • Stay current in new developments in the industry.
  • Travel to job sites to resolve problems.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  • Produce procedure manuals.

Education / Experience

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in engineering or seven to ten years of progressively responsible related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineers (PE) are preferred — not required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Qualifications

  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, to include a computer, telephone, fax, copier, etc., and the ability to operate a variety of test and development equipment.
